About the Job Role

Year 1 & 2- Admin Role

The role (based in Wexford Town) will involve achieving new and existing business goals and supporting the Team Leader in providing a high-quality service to brokers, who support the insurance business.

What this role entails:

  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture that supports learning and development
  • Support day-to-day administration, including managing client records and product updates
  • Learn how to prepare and submit financial applications online with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Shadow financial advisors to gain insight into client meetings and financial planning processes
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues and gain confidence in communicating with clients and providers
  • Proactively chase pipeline cases and follow up on any outstanding requirements to keep cases moving efficiently
  • Track progress of submitted applications and ensure all required documentation is completed in a timely manner
  • Help identify more efficient ways of working by reviewing systems and suggesting improvements
  • Assist in maintaining high service standards by meeting agreed timelines and reporting requirements
  • Develop a solid understanding of financial products and how they meet clients’ needs

 

Year 3– Broker Role

As an apprentice, you will gain in-depth knowledge of risks and the financial market to arrange suitable policies & cover for your clients. You will learn how to be an effective intermediary between our clients and insurance companies. 

Responsibilities of Financial Brokers:

  • Gather and analyse information from clients to assess their financial needs, goals, and risk tolerance across pensions, protection, and investment products
  • Research suitable financial products from a range of providers to identify the most appropriate recommendations based on the client’s objectives
  • Ensure clients fully understand the terms, features, and risks associated with financial products, in line with regulatory requirements
  • Monitor client portfolios and recommend updates or changes based on life events, financial goals, or market conditions
  • Sit in on client meetings and calls with advisors to learn how to manage and build strong, long-term client relationships
  • Produce accurate and detailed suitability reports that document client needs, objectives, and recommended financial solutions
  • Stay up to date with industry regulations and complete all Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements as part of professional growth
  • Assist in managing ongoing client servicing tasks, including follow-ups on outstanding requirements and policy updates
  • Support the business in delivering a high standard of compliance, documentation, and client record-keeping
  • Work toward meeting individual and team-based quarterly targets, contributing to overall business growth and client satisfaction
  • Keep up with changes in the insurance market and in your clients' industries

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to progress their career in financial services.  Cornmarket will facilitate the apprentice’s further education, support the day offsite in class each week and put together an inter-departmental rotation based on upskilling them as future GI Leadership. Accountabilities of the Role

Responsibilities will vary dependant on the business area assigned, but will include the following;

  • Service our customers via inbound and outbound telephone calls, emails and general administration
  • Handle and maintain insurance policies for clients, including reviewing policy details, updating information, and ensuring accurate documentation

Entry Requirements

1. Leaving Certificate Requirements:

Prior to 2017:

  • A minimum of 4 grade Ds at Ordinary Level and 2 Grade C3 at Higher Level
  • Leaving Certificate subjects must include Mathematics and English or Irish
  • An E grade in Higher Level Mathematics, and a B2 in Foundation Mathematics is a minimum entry requirement
  • A minimum of 140 points is required for entry to all Level 8 courses

2017 onwards:

  • A minimum of 4 grades 4o6/H7 and 2 grade H5 or higher Leaving Certificate subjects
  • Leaving Certificate subjects must include Mathematics and English or Irish
  • With English or Irish with O6/H7 and Mathematics with F2/o6/H7
  • A minimum of 140 points is required for entry to all Level 8 courses

 

2. For students who are over 23 on January 1st of the year of entry, interviews and other selection tools will be used to assess suitability, replacing the minimum requirements above.

The Claims & Investigations team manage the accident liability exposures centrally for the three Operating Companies in the CIÉ Group. 2. Insurance Team

Our insurance team deliver a comprehensive value for money Insurance programme tailored to serve the best needs of the organisation and Operating Companies. As Certified Insurance Practitioners, we establish the scope of Insurance cover sought, the limits and cost, and thereafter liaise with Brokers to negotiate and arrange the placement of agreed cover. We engage with the Brokers on Market Submissions and provide extensive advice and support around the areas of policy renewal, and the management of Contracts, Licences and Agreements.

 

3. Risk Team

The principal objectives of the risk advisory service that we provide are to ensure the most economic and efficient management of risk within the organisation and to deliver valuable insights into the issues specific to the provision of public transport. We assist in the delivery of leadership and guidance regarding emerging risks and risk performance as against peer and industry assessments while ensuring we are compliant with legislative and regulatory changes..

 

Role Profile

This position is geared towards someone who is flexible, adaptable, and interested in career progression.

We are seeking an apprentice with the right attitude, i.e. an innate desire for continual learning, willingness to work as part of a team in getting the job done and focussed in self-developing so as to challenge the status quo when needed. Strong technical, analytical and communication skills are a must.

The successful candidate will be exposed to all areas of the business: from dealing with third party claims, following up with investigations, determining appropriate resolution channels to engaging with Brokers and Underwriters in the procurement of insurances.

It is to be expected that the role and responsibilities will develop in line with the candidate’s progression through the Apprentice Programme.

 

An example of claims duties includes but is not limited to:

  • Investigate and follow up Customer care complaints
  • Acknowledging letters of claim and commencing investigation.
  • Requesting accident reports and arranging driver interviews as well as securing CCTV footage and witness statements.
  • Determining evidential requirements including documents, CCTV, photographs, reports and records

  • Requesting follow up information from claimant’s representatives and from our clients.
  • Requisitioning cheques and other associated administrative duties
  • Maintaining PIAB Diary in Excel
  • Adjustment and revaluation of files on CMS Computer System
  • Working as part of Investigations Team and generally supporting work in the Office
